SLEEP!!

Well,
We have been home for a week and Jonathan is adjusting to sleeping again! It seems like any new activity causes him to not sleep (and in turn, I don't sleep!). It has been wonderful to have my mom here with me to help with shopping, cleaning and just being an extra pair of hands. My dad came down this last weekend and is installing a garage door opener ( a christmas gift from my parents!). I can hardly wait to push the button!
Today, Jonathan was standing (leaning up against the ottoman) when he pushed back and was able to stand unassisted for a full minute. My mom and I were in shock! I think it was a fluke (and praying it was!) as I am not ready for him to be mobile yet!
Well, hope to get some new pics online soon.

HOME AT LAST!

Hi everyone,
Yes we finally made it home on friday night! My mom drove with me from Seattle on friday. Jonathan did really well until we got to Ellensburg. He didn't want to go back into the carseat after we stopped for lunch. He cried from Ellensburg to Yakima (about 20 minutes). We found a rest area to stop at and my mom took over driving while I crawled into the backseat. Jonathan calmed down with me there to entertain him. We got to my house to find it had been decorated with streamers, ribbon, diapers, wash clothes, hangers, clothespins, and baby bibs! My neighbor took a picture for me as my camera was buried in my luggage. She promised to email it to me so I could sent it out.
My aunt and uncle came over to help us unload the car and my aunt brought food! What a blessing!
Today we went to church and Jonathan was a big hit! The pastor invited us up front to pray a prayer of blessing over Jonathan. He loved the attention!
Jonathan is very social and enjoyed all the attention.
The church got us a basketful of baby supplies which we unpacked when we got home. Jonathan's favorite is a toy (while mommy appreciates the towels, diapers, wipes, baby outfit and CD!)
Jonathan is not sleeping real well at night yet but seems to be adjusting pretty well to his new surroundings. He does take good naps (for which his mommy is very happy!!)
Will get pics online soon.

Stateside at Last!

Well we made it stateside on tuesday night and were met at the airport by family and friends. We went to dinner and then to my parents house. Jonathan fell asleep in the car and didn't even wake up when I changed him for bed! He woke later and was disoriented and cried until he realized that we were all still here. He didn't sleep well that night but did quite well yesterday. We had our family christmas last night. Jonathan met lots of people and had a good time playing with his cousins. He didn't make it through all the present being opened but did sleep well last night.
Tomorrow, we leave for the tri-cities. I can hardly wait to make it to my own bed! Have been gone about a month now! whew!
Will try to get some pics online later this week.

Volcanos and Earthquakes and More

Hi all,
Yes, we had a small earthquake on friday night. We were watching TV and I looked at my parents and said, do you feel that? as we discussed if it was an earthquake it began to shake enough to say, yep, that is an earthquake! We made our way to the doorway (yes, I know you are supposed to get under something but old habits die hard!). Other people had opened their doors too. By that time, things had passed and nothing fell or was damaged.
On Saturday, we took a tour to Antigua, the old capital city about 40 minutes away. As we left Guatemala City, the guide pointed to the mountain and said, did you feel the eruption last night? There was a small plume of ash coming from the top of the volcano. (nothing dramatic mind you)! Evidently there are three volcanos outside the city but only one that is still active!
We went into Antigua and visited a Jade factory. They explained that the Jade found in guatemala is very rare and that there are two types only found here. There are actually two types of jade but the type found here is only found in Hong Kong and the black and rainbow varieties are only found in guatemala. Has to do with the tectonic plates and the heat that makes the stone! Anyway, it was very interesting. Who knew pure jade is white and that lavender jade is actually a rainbow or that black jade is rare! The rarest type is the emerald green jade!
Ok so much for the history lession, I thought it was interesting.
We went through a few small towns and stopped to do alittle shopping. Jonathan got a traditional hat to keep the sun off his head and a jacket as it has been really cold here!! Who knew!
Well, running out of time again! We get his visa today and fly home tomorrow. Will get some photos on this site soon.

VISA AT LAST!!!

Today we had our visa appointment at the US Embassy and were approved without any difficulty! Jonathan did really well despite the fact that he woke every two hours all night long! We had to leave at 6:50am and didn´t get back to the hotel until 10am. They opened the windows at the embassy an hour late!!
It was fun to meet all these other families who were also there for their visa appointments. So of them had some difficulties and it made me appreciate my adoption agency all the more! (yes, I have had my moments of not appreciating them! But they really have done a wonderful job for jonathan and I).
Monday we get Jonathan,s visa. We fly out on tuesday morning and arrive in seattle around 5:30pm. My mom has a couple of doctors appointments on wednesday and thursday so hope to head back home on friday!
We plan on having our family christmas when we get home as my family didn´t want to have christmas without Jonathan being there.
Well, gotta run. more later....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi everyone,

Hope your holidays have been wonderful! We watched the fireworks out our hotel window on New Years. Jonathan has learned to make a noise with his lips (blowing out) but it makes him spit everywhere! It is cute but he sure is a drooly mess!

He is really settling in now and has taken to my parents without difficulty!

We have his visa appointment on friday, hope to get his visa monday and head home on tuesday! I can hardly wait to sleep in my own bed.

Well, am running out of email time so will sign off. Oh yes, my sister`s breast implant from her cancer surgery got infected and they had to take it out on monday and give her IV antibiotics. She is pretty sore. She will need another surgery soon. please pray for her.
